InfoSAWIT, KOTAKINABALU - It is clear that less smallholders participating to get RSPO certificate urged RSPO to simplify the scheme for them. It is hoped to boost their participation in producing sustainable palm oil.

Chairman of Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) Tanjung Sehati, Jalal Sayuti said, the simple process to get RSPO certificate for the smallholders could be done, namely in the audit process. “We welcome the simplification to get RSPO certificate for the smallholders,” he said.

Jalal also said, the tight and many regulations would postpone the RSPO certification process for them. But the improvement keeps running or could be regulated in the improvement phase. “For the start, there should be clear limitation, such as, the plantations should not be in forest regions,” he said.

But Director of Yayasan Setara Jambi, Rukaiya Rafik thought, the idea to simplify RSPO certification process for the smallholders should not make the scheme not trusted by the consumers.(T2)
