InfoSAWIT, BANDA ACEH – The companies do not only get the profits from palm oil plantations but the smallholders also got the advantage from the plantations.
Though the people were suspicious when joining the environmental cultivation, but in the end, it was no proof. In the contrary, by implementing the best and sustainable cultivation since 2011, the smallholder group in District of Simalungun, North Sumatera Province in UD Sejahtera now gets the advantages.
In 2017 lalu the smallholders as the members of UD Sejahtera got Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certificate. They get the advantages by getting the premium price from their certificate.
“Alhamdulillah in 2018 our smallholders got bonus, the premium price from the fresh fruit bunch (FFB) which has had RSPO certificate,” the representative of UD Sejahtera, Jumadi said, Wednesday (13/2/2019) in Banda Aceh.
When the FFB was cheap in 2018 lalu, at least, RSPO could multiply the smallholders income who join in RSPO.
"We do hope that in 2020, other smallholders around us would involve to get the RSPO certificate. Our target is that 800 smallholders could join to get it,” he said. (T1)
