InfoSAWIT, SINTANG – Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food (Sinar Mas), the global agri-business company within palm oil business which is integrated from the upstream to downstream sectors did social service to cataract operation for about 238 villagers in Sintang, on 14-15 December 2018. It was the cooperation among the volunteers of Tzu Chiof Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food, Army or Korem 121/Alambhana Wanawai Sintang, District of Sintang, Kapuas Hulu, Melawi, Sekadau, and the local Health Agency.
The noble event was to reach the villagers who wanted to have caratact operation but blocked by the distance and health service from the local health center. The cataract operation was joint by the villagers from 4 districts, such as, Sintang, Kapuas Hulu, Melawi, andSekadau and it was centered in Sintang.
CEO Perkebunan Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food in West Kalimantan, Susanto Yangsaid that Sintang was chosen to run the caratact operation because in the previous days, there were many patients having cataract that the volunteers of Tzu Chi of Sinar Mas handled in Semitau. That is why they took and mobilized them and others to join the operation.
He also said that the event was an extension of the program Kepedulian 5 Kilometer which is a routine and sustainable program that the Tzu Chi volunteers of Sinar Mas do. Through the program, the people in radius 5 kilometer from the operational area of Sinar Mas palm oil plantations could be free from cataract, hernia, and harelip.
“The social service is the real contribution of the company to the local people in health, besides its contribution to hire the workers and the local economy support,” Susanto Yang said in the official statement toInfoSAWITrecenly.
Commander of Army (Danrem) 121/Alambhana Wanawai Sintang, Kolonel Inf. Bambang Trisnohadi said that the army 121/Alambhana Wanawai Sintang did welcome the social service to cataract operation for the villagers of Sintang. He and the army supported the event by ordering the personnels to get the patients to be cured and helped them when the event run. The Army also provided infrastructures when it run.
“The social service is done in the same day of the commemoration of Hari Juang Kartika Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angakatan Darat (TNI AD) which is commemorated on every December 15 and the anniversary of Army,,” Bambang said.
From the screening result to about 1.000s candidates, 238 patients passed the screening and got the operation on 14 and 15 December 2018. The numbers of patients showed that they were enthusiastic to get cataract operation service. (T2)
