Four Strategic Issues in Palm Oil to be improved

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – To improve and increase the sustainable palm oil cultivation, the government is about to publish some regulations and action plans to develop sustainable palm oil plantations in the future.

From what InfoSAWIT got, Thursday (29/11/2018), in the consultation meeting to implement the National Action Plan in Sustainable Palm Oil (NAPSPO) which it would be un-separated part of President’s Regulation about the Development System in Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil and which is being discussed in Coordinator Ministry in Economy in Jakarta, there are four strategic issues to be improved by the stakeholders nationally.

Eva Noviyanty from General Directorate of Regional Development, Ministry of Internal Affairs, said, the first is that until now there is no data base about the planters (independent smallholders), namely about the numbers and area location as the basic thing to make policy.

The second, the planters may less understand and know about the related regulation in sustainable palm oil development.

The third is that the coordination among the institution is not optimal yet both in the central and in the regional. “The fourth is that the law enforcement is not good to run yet,” Eva said. (T2)
