InfoSAWIT, NUSA DUA –It is admitted or not, palm oil plantations are potential to realize and fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). But there should be 4 key factors to realize the SDGs.
Chairman of Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS), Mansuetus Darto said that the first is to make sure the ownership of land, namely belonging to the independent smallholders.
The second is to increase the smallholders’ productivity. The third is to implement the minimal limit to fresh fruit bunch (FFB) price for it is very cheap now. Darto said that there should be mechanism so that it would not be happening in the field.
In addition, this would be potential to make social issue. “It is better to think that if the CPO is about U$ 400/ton, the FFB should be Rp 500/Kg, So there is standard to determine and decide the FFB price,” he said in the International Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) 2018 and 2019 Price Outlook in Nusa Dua, Bali, Friday, (2/11/2018) where InfoSAWITalso attends.
The fourth is to implement the fair, profitable, and developed partnership for each other. He said, the partnership should not be in cooperation by making the plasma scheme but also if in one region there are lots of independent smallholders, the partnership with them could be the option to do. “This could be the solution to fulfill the obligation, 20% of palm oil plantations to the smallholders where the stakeholders do according to the regulation,” Darto said.(T2)
