EPOA : Confirm the Communication in Palm oil Trade

InfoSAWIT, BALI -Eddy Esselinkof European Palm Oil Alliance (EPOA)said, his side supported to strengthen the palm oil trade cooperation, and clearly communicate its industrial development in Indonesia to the European consumers.

Eddy also admitted, his side always gets bad information about palm oil industries in Indonesia. “It needs to balance with discussion and information about palm oil and the public should know more about the real facts. We commit to have 100% of sustainable palm oil,” he recently said in Bali.

He also hoped that the palm oil producer countries could increase the coopertion in more complete information by discussing four major issues, they are, responsibility, collaboration, sustainability, and effectiveness.

He predicted that palm oil imports in European Union may reach about 17% of the global imports. So every palm oil producer should involve in and could cooperate.

Actually, the debate about palm oil in European Union, he continued, has been running since five years ago, at 2013. The start was discussed by three countries, they are, Denmark, Franch, and German

In 2014, the palm oil discussion started to increase and be discussed in other countries too. German, Netherland, Denmark and Sweden accepted palm oil but Franch and Norway rejected to use it.

The other countries, such as, Spain, Poland, Austria, Italy, Chec Republic are neutral to use palm oil. “2016 was the start to raise palm oil debate and it happened in almost countries in European Union,” he said. (T2)
