InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –Until now the policy in implementing the sustainable palm oil cultivation in Indonesia or famously known as t Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO), is still improved and strengthened.

The input and critic are taken as the notices. Improving and strengthening ISPO has been done in Pekanbaru (Riau), Palangkaraya (Central Kalimantan), Palu (Sulawesi) dan Sorong (Papua). Head of ISPO Commission Secretariat, thought, one thing to improve ISPO is by proposing that Chief of ISPO would be Secretary of Agriculture and the members would be the same level as the General Director from related ministries.

There should be simplification on the Principles and Criteria in ISPO. If in the previous, the verification team was from ISPO Commission to determine that one palm oil company would get ISPO certificate or not, the decision to get ISPO would be delegated to ISPO Certification Board. “So ISPO Commission would supervise and monitor only,” Azis recently said in Jakarta.(T2)
