InfoSAWIT, GAMBUT JAYA - In2014 and 2015, the village of Gambut Jaya, Sub district of  Sungai Gelam, District of Muaro Jambi, Jambi Province, was always hit by the fire and palm oil areas were in flame too though they got area certificates. The fire hit 50 hectares of the total burning areas, reaching 270 hectares.

The fire in the areas made theme have no regular income. They faced problems to pay credits to the banks. “We were so mass at the time,” Head of Village of Gambut Jaya, Wihernanto, said in the village.

The smallholders’ palm oil production drastically decreased. Before the fire, they could produce 800 tons to 1000 tons/month. But after the fire, they only got about 400 tons to 600 tons/month. (T2)
