The Fund Issue Postpones the People’s Palm oil Replanting Program

InfoSAWIT, MEDAN–The small productivity of palm oil happens for the old trees are postponed to be replanted. This was told by Director of Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS), Hasril Hasan Siregar in the Indonesian Palm Oil Stakeholder (IPOS) Forum in Medan recently.

Hasril said, the palm oil trees might be more than 25 years old that make small productivity. Now there are about 800 thousand hectares of the people’s postponed to be replanted.

The average productivity of the people’s reaches 2,8 tons of crude palm oil(CPO) per hectare per year or 14 tons of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) per hectare per year nationally. The numbers are smaller than those from the private and country’s that reach  4,5-5,5 tons of CPO per hectare per year.

"The postponement of the replanting program happens for the un-optimal fund from Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) for more than one year,” he said, as quoted from industry.co.id.

Last month, PFMA planned to distribute the replanting fund to four unions in South Sumatera. The fund would be distributed in phase, starting from South Sumatera, then to North Sumatera, Riau, and West Kalimantan.

For information, the government targeted, the people’s areas to be replanted would be about 20.780 hectares nationally. "It could be done in 100 thousand hectares to 200 thosand hectares. But the issues should be solved in the first place,” he said.(T3)
