InfoSAWIT, PALANGKARAYA –Legislation Board, Indonesian Legislators, prioritized Palm oil Draft in 2018. The legislation board actively discussed the Draft. It has been in the harmonization process.

The member of Legislation Board, Indonesian Legislators, Hamdhani, of Partai Nasdem, from Central Kalimantan, said, there are some important reasons why the Draft is crusial, they are in social and economy perspective – to make sure that the smallholders could be better.

The Draft prioritizes the domestic investment. There are series of incentive so that palm oil could go forward; increase the professionality in every sector in palm oil – from the upstream to downstream sectors; and in the law so that the Draft could be the solution of the complexity of license. “But in other perspective, palm oil also makes bad things for social or environment,” he said in Palangkaraya, as quoted from tribunnews.com.

He also did not agree if the Draft is overlapping with the Plantation Laws for the Plantation Laws regulates 127 kinds of commodity. The Draft regulates palm oil only.

“To solve the palm oil cases, it needs a special regulation which is lex specialis. Palm oil contributes to the country, such as, the exchange that reaches Rp 300 billion per year. It has been more than the exchange in oil and crude,” he said.

Besides, palm oil is proven to solve the disparity of economy in and out of Java. On the other hand, the smallholders’ issues and the indigenous people should be remanaged for lots of the people’s areas are forested by Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Central Kalimantan Province.(T3)
