InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –Some time ago Regent of Merauke, Frederikus Gebze did Stakeholder Meeting II about Palm oil Area and Industrial Development in Merauke.

At the time, the Regent suggested some companies to enlarge the areas for the people, and empower the people around, according to the regulation, 20 percent for the indigenous cultivation.

But the Regent felt sorry that there was no foreign NGO in the meeting. One of them, Mighty Earth did not attend the first meeting in Jakarta, and the second meeting in Merauke.

Gebze was angry with what Mighty accused some time ago. In the moment, based on the organization, the forum was a manipulation. The regent emphasized, the stakeholder forum was proposed by the regional government, especially the regional exchange is not enough to burden 500 thousand men in Merauke.

“It does not mean that investment would damage and does not care about our forest. We keep maintaining it based on the available regulation, both in the spatial regulation, construction, flora and fauna,” he said, as quoted from RMOL. (T3)
