InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –Indonesian stakeholders accepts and welcomes the trade cooperation between Indonesia and Russia. It could fight for the anti-palm oil campaign of Indonesia to Europe. Chairman of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) FadhilHasan told so. “The trade cooperation with Russia could increase the promotion and research so that the negative assumption about palm oil from Indonesia could decrease,” he recently said.

Palm oil exports from Indonesia to Russia keep developing in every year. It also showed, Russia is the potential market target. He thought, the palm oil needs in Russia would be increasing.

In April 2017, European Union Parliament declared a resolution to forbid palm oil imports from Indonesia for it has something to do with human rights violation, corruption, child labor, and erasing the indigenous people’s rights. Besides the production in Indonesia also endangers the health and makes deforestation because of environmental damage.

Secretary of Trade, Indonesian Republic, Enggartiasto Lukita said, it has something to do with trade competition because the products of Indonesia are competitive.

Executive Director of Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association, SahatSinaga said, the vegetable oil production in Europe and USA corners palm oil for it is about global trade and business competition. “Palm oil keeps defeating their vegetable oil production,” he said, as quoted from Kontan.id.
