InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –Columbia takes Indonesia to fight for the trade system discrimination in European Union by limiting the palm oil imports from the producer countries, such as, Indonesia and Columbia.
Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Columbia, Aurelio Iragorri Valencia, based on the written official info from the Indonesian Embassy in Columbia, mentioned, the policy of European Union to limit palm oil products by saying about environmental issues and others is a trade politics from vegetable oil (non palm oil) companies to protect the business. “The trade discrimination policy should be fought for,” Aurelio said when visiting Indonesian Embassy in Bogota, as quoted from Antara.
Indonesia, he continued, is the biggest palm oil producer in the world and has succeeded to develop the rural economy by palm oil. Columbia would learn from the success of what Indonesia has achieved. “It needs to fight for the trade discrimination which Europe has made,” he said.
Knowing that, the Embassador of Indonesia in Columbia, Priyo Iswanto really appreciated the support and also takes Columbia to join the Council of Palm oil Producing Contries (CPOPC) as fast as it could.
“If Columbia wants to develop its palm oil industries to develop the rural, namely in the former areas where the conflicts took place, and joins CPOPC, it would increase the bergaining offer to the countries making the trade discrimination,” Priyo said. (T3)
