Aceh Needs Regulation about the Palm Oil Price

InfoSAWIT, BANDA ACEH – The provincial government of Aceh should immediately publish the regulation about palm oil price. This is to decrease the price game done by the factory, which will be a loss for the smallholders.

Vice Chairman of “Golkar” Aceh, who is also a smallholder, Suprijal Yusufsaid, the factories determine palm oil price. This is a loss for the smallholders. But there is no other option to sell to the factory.

He gave example, in Aceh Barat Daya (Abdya), palm oil in the smallholders’ level is Rp 900-950 perkilogram, while in the factory level, it is Rp 1.100-1.150 perkilogram though the CPO has beeen about 2.600 ringgit per ton. “Knowing the CPO price gets better, the palm oil fresh fruit bunch should actually be Rp 1.100 to Rp 1.200 perkilogram. But though the CPO is better, it is not for the smallholders,” he said, as quoted from Serambi Aceh.

He continued, by having Rp 900 per kilogram, the smallholders should make discount Rp 200 per kilogram and the fertilizer cost. So they got small profits which in the end, the big profits are to the stakeholders, such as, the factories. ‘

He thought, palm oil should follow the world price. If the world CPO price is better, the FFB buying price should be better too. So the government should exist too and make sides to the smallholders.

He continued, the provincial governments have regulated palm oil price, such as, in North Sumatera, South Sumatera, and Bengkulu which make more stable price rather than it in Aceh.
