InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The increasing temperature because of climate phenomenon when rain rarely falls down or El Nino fire many forests and areas. United States of America until now is still busy to extinguish the fire in Haway. Canada is too.

El Nino phenomenon that raises the temperature up really delivers direct impacts to Indonesia. Geophysics, Climatology, Meteorology Agency forecasted that El Nino makes draught in a very long period because of lack of rain. The agency also reminded the danger of hunger and fire in the forest and area.

If the land gets dry because of lack of rain, there would be hunger. Harvest would decrease in numbers and production would to and food crisis would happen.

Besides, the long period – drought would cause fire that could be massively happening in areas and forests in Indonesia namely if there is hotspot.

Editorials of InfoSAWIT noticed, the drought that is happening in many palm oil plantations in Indonesia could trigger fire because in some plantations, there are hotspots.

Besides, food crisis threats and people’s income crisis around palm oil plantations could raise confrontation. Social and environmental conflicts in some plantations still happen.

That is why InfoSAWIT encouraged openness and partnership for every stakeholder to maintain security and comfort in the plantations. The challenges because of El Nino would raise food and economic crisis in the future.
