InfoSAWIT, SINGAPORE – Asia Pacific holds significant feedstock potential for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), but scaling production will require harmonized standards and verified sustainability systems across markets, according to Apical.
Speaking at the Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel Association (ASAFA) panel during the Singapore Airshow 2026, Apical’s Head of Green Energy, Lamberto Gaggiotti, emphasized that credibility across markets is essential.
“The key question is whether supply can be trusted across markets, whether sustainability can be verified, and whether systems are aligned. Once those foundations are in place, investment and growth will follow,” Gaggiotti said.
Industry representatives from Airbus, Aether Fuels, Nestlé, and S&P Global Energy also stressed the importance of regulatory harmonization and robust traceability frameworks.
Apical is expanding its downstream strategy through the development of a 500,000-ton second-generation biofuel facility in Southern Europe, aimed at supporting European SAF demand amid global decarbonization efforts. (T2)
