InfoSAWIT, ACEH JAYA – The Aceh Jaya Regency Government has officially launched a 10-hectare oil palm planting project on land allocated to former members of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) in Sagoe Pasie Raya.
The initiative aims to promote economic self-reliance and create employment opportunities for former combatants in the region.
The planting ceremony was led by Aceh Jaya Regent Safwandi, accompanied by Deputy Regent Muslem D and representatives of the Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA) Sagoe Pasie Raya.
Safwandi stated that the program aligns with the administration’s commitment to strengthening community welfare through plantation-based employment.
“The local government continues to encourage economic independence through the oil palm plantation sector. This project is expected to support operational needs and improve livelihoods,” Safwandi said.
The 10-hectare plantation marks the first such initiative in the region. Authorities expressed hope that similar projects could be expanded to other areas within Aceh Jaya.
KPA Sagoe Pasie Raya Chairman Sulaiman Efendi said the project was made possible through collaboration among multiple stakeholders.
The program is expected to contribute to long-term economic stability while supporting sustainable oil palm development in the region. (T2)
