InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Maintaining the available markets (countries) and making the new markets could be the keys to the success of palm oil from Indonesia. The potential markets would be for the welfare of the smallholders. This needs the supports to promote palm oil to the global and the support from the government of Indonesia.
It also needs the best strategy and the same support to produce sustainable palm oil to encourage the global consumption. If (the growers) could maintain the sustainable cultivation, when the crude palm oil (CPO) is cheap globally, they could survive from the numbers of harvest or the chance from the new markets.
Coordinator Ministry in Economy noted that the CPO production in 2018 nationally reached 40,23 million tons while in April 2018 it reached 13,2 million tons within about US$ 5,87 billion.
Though the palm oil exports in 2018 decreased from those in 2017, Deputy Coordinator Minister in Food and Agriculture Coordination, Coordinator Ministry in Economy, Musdhalifah Machmud hoped that the volume and exports of palm oil products in Indonesia in 2019 could be better than those in 2018.
Furthermore the palm oil product exports from Indonesia are dominated by three downstream ones, they are, refined palm oil in 20kg package, refined bleach deodorize (RBD), and fatty acid. In April 2019 the export composition nationally reached 8,056 million tons of downstream products, while the rests were CPO, crude palm kernel oil (CPKO), empty bunches, shell, oilcake, and biodiesel.
