InfoSAWIT, CEMPAGA HULU – One palm oil plantation company nationally, Bumitama Gunajaya Agro ( BGA ) Group through its subsidiary, PT. Windu Nabatindo Lestari (WNL) is committed to develop the business diversification for the local people around the plantation by its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. One program that had been running was to develop the productive economy activity.

In the end of June2019, in Lintang Batang Horti Farm, Sub district of Cempaga Hulu, District of Kotawaringin Timur, Central Kalimantan province, the training was done to the local people about the cultivation of local fruit. It was joined by 5 representations of the villagers of Rubung Buyung and Bukit Raya for two days. It was about the introduction of seeding, planting, nursery, up to harvesting process.

The CSR Coordinator in Central Kalimantan, Dewangga Firmanto said that the training was to give knowledge for the local people about the local fruit cultivation and could be the additional business for them around the plantation.

“The training was the way for the people to understand that there are lots of potential of local fruit in Central Kalimantan. It could be the alternative business for them,” he said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.

The training was important because the local fruits are so minimal to cultivate and develop in Kalimantan though the province has potential fruits. Besides the needs of fruit in the province are from other provinces.

He also mentioned that the training in Lintang Batang Horti Farm was done because it is near to the circumstances and becomes the pioneer to develop the local fruit in Central Kalimantan. Besides Lintang Batang Horti Farm has been producing the mainstay fruits, such as, crystal guava, longan, lemonade orange.

Not only doing training, in the last day, the participants got souvenir, such as, fruit seeds and by hoping to be the practice for them to plant the fruits around their houses. (T2)
