InfoSAWIT, MEDAN – For the fourth Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food did workshop from eight workshops in Medan, Thursday (20/6/2019), as part of its commitment to help the suppliers to be the sustainable palm oil producers.

30 crude palm oil (CPO), palm kernel (PK) suppliers and 18 fresh fruit bunch (FFB) sellers joined and participated in the workshop. It was done in Riau and Lampung and it is planned to be done in Aceh, Jambi and Bangka in this year.

The workshop is to encourage the suppliers to realize the traceability to the plantation – as the successful initiative of sustainability policy of Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food.  It is to educate the suppliers about the traceability, do it in their operational, and use the information which is gathered to increase their productivity to fulfill the hope of local and international markets.

Series of the workshop is called ‘Ksatria Sawit’ which stands for Kemamputelusuran Sawit Awal Transformasi Rantai pasok Independen (Petani Independen) dan Agen Sawit.

“We need the name that could inspire the action and encourage the suppliers to cooperate with us and defend palm oil industries and show to the world that palm oil from Indonesia is sustainably produced,” Head of Downstream Sustainability Implementation, Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food, Daniel Prakarsa said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.

Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food through the sustainability policy is committed to realize 100 percent of traceability to the plantation in 2020. Now the company, within the participation of the suppliers, has realized 62% of traceability and would be 85% by the end of this year.

“For the last four years, we have tried our best to realize the chain supply which is traceable and sustainable. It starts from the plantations to the factory so we could map where our FFB derived from,” Daniel Prakarsa said.  (T2)
