Make Taskforce to Supervise the Smallholders’ FFB

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The cheaper fresh fruit bunch (FFB) is not a new thing in palm oil industries. Moreover the smallholders’ FFB is determined by the fluctuation of the world crude palm oil (CPO) price.

But should it be let and in the end, there would be groups to advantage the condition to get profits? Of course not. The smallholders’ FFB governance should be a serious thing to notice. At least, for the same will to improve.

One man who notices this is General Secretary of Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS), Mansuetus Darto. He even suggested that the government needs to make taskforce for palm oil to supervise some things to help the smallholders. For example, the first, to monitor the seed, fertilizer, pesticides distribution and the development of the smallholders’ plantations to make sure the legal and no burning.

The second is to supervise the MoU of partnership between the smallholders and the companies to make sure that the scheme would be fair, equal and not be a loss for the smallholders.

The third is to monitor and evaluate the scale of FFB in the factories so that the scale would not be a loss for the smallholders. “The fourth is to make sure the cooperation between the factory and the independent smallholders run well so that the middlemen, the CV, and others would not take advantage” he said in an event in Jakarta where InfoSAWIT did attend.
