InfoSAWIT, MEDAN –Who does not know DL Sitorus a.k.a. Darianus Lungguk Sitorus?He was a successful businessman of District of Toba Samosir (Tobasa), North Sumatera province and known as the “King of Palm Oil and ‘Rich Man”.
DL Sitorus was born in Village of Parsambilan, Sub district of Silaen, District of Tobasa. Then he moved and grew in Pematangsiantar, the second biggest city in the province.
DL Sitorus was famous for he had wide palm oil areas and educational foundation. He and his company, PT Torganda have tens thousand hectares of concession areas. They are in Eastern and Northern Sumatera.
The areas claimed by PT Torganda covered protected forest in Register 40, in District of Padang Lawas, North Sumatera province. This issue once took him in jail. He was accused to converse the Government Forest to be palm oil plantations. He was 8 years in jail.
The success of DL Sitorus in palm oil business, education, and health service took him to the politics nationally. On January 20th, 2006, he declared ‘Partai Peduli Rakyat Nasional (PPRN)’ and made him as the main actor in the party.
Though he was rich and had good position, the man who liked to smoke was simple in his daily life. He married a woman, ‘boru Siagian’ and had two daughters and three sons.
He was smart to get the people’s symphaty of North Sumatera by giving donation to the teachers, building schools, and other social activities.
On Thursday (3/8) DL Sitorus passed away in a plane, Garuda Indonesia (GA) 188 which would take him to his hometown in North Sumatera. He might be dead by the heart attack when the plane was about to board in Soekarno – Hatta Airport, Jakarta at around 13.30 p.m. Farewell, Mister DL.(T3)
