InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –Based on Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA),  United States of America (USA) significantly increased its palm oil demand in May. It increased 43% compared to the previous month or from 83,70 thousand tonsin April to be 119,95 thousand tons.

This is a shock when USA accuses Indonesia to do biodiesel dumpiing. Some of the palm oil exported to USA would be used to biodiesel. Since the trans fat is banned to use by USA Food and Drugs Association in the midst of 2015, the palm oil demands keep increasing as the substitution. Besides palm oil is cheapest of all kinds of vegetable oil.

The increasing palm oil demands from Indonesia took place in Bangladesh reaching 29% or from 124,95 thousand tonsin April increased to be 163,27 thousand tons. “The increasing might happen for the consumption during Ramadhan. India had increasing demands too, about 12%,” Executive Director of IPOA, Fadhil Hasan said as it is in the official statement which InfoSAWIT got. (T2)
