For Not Responding Official Documents from GEC, 19 Thousand Workers of Palm Oil Company Could Not Vote

InfoSAWIT. SERUYAN – In the coordination meeting that Election Supervisory Agency (ESA) Regency of Seruyan did on Monday (5/2/2024), it was revealed that about 19.000 villagers could not vote in the election day. This could happen for some companies did not respond official documents from General Election Commission (GEC) Regency of Seruyan since the early of February 2024

Chairman of SEA Regency of Seruyan, Umar Zahid Bustomi was sorry for it because the companies did not inform anything to what GEC proposed about the special spots to vote (around the companies). Only the companies Batu Ampar and Seruyan Tengah responded and the two got four special spots from GEC.

The special spots to vote were for the people in jail, social houses, rehabilitation houses, mining and plantation companies. These are serious issues because there would be many workers in palm oil plantations where they are in distance with other villages and would be difficult to vote.

Umar told that these would potentially make issues in the election day. head of District of Hanau, there are 1.331 men having no ID of Regency of Seruyan and would not vote. The total men that would get the impact would be about 19 thousand men and they are mostly working in Seruyan.

To face it, he urged the official in the district to get regulation done firmly. If the villagers that want to vote but do not qualify the terms and condition, they should not vote. “This is about to avoid the possibility to mobilize the mass to the vote spot with many interests,” he said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from Radar Sampit.

He also told that it should get many security officers such as from the police and army around the election spot. They have to be fully supported to face anything possible. (T2)
