InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - To deliver authentic information for the people and policy makers in European countries, PFMA encouraged many promotions, for instance, do promotions to some countries that are in need of coordination from every stakeholder both from Ministry of External Affairs (General Directorate of America – Europe), Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Industry to fight negative campaigns about palm oil.
Head Corporate Division Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Plantation Agency (PFMA), Achmad Maulizal Sutawijaya said, it needs update information about palm oil for Indonesian Embassy and Indonesian General Consulate, as the materials to deny or deliver answers on negative campaigns.
“The countries to counter palm oil negative campaigns in European Union are French, Belgium, Netherland, and German,” he said in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) SAWIT BERKELANJUTAN VOL. 14, with the theme “Mengintegrasikan Industri Hulu Hingga Hilir Sawit Berkelanjutan”, that InfoSAWIT conducted with the supports from Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) in the early of June 2023, in Jakarta.
The other strategies to do, he continued, is by involving stakeholders in Europe in the socialization so that European people would accept (palm oil products).
“It needs to consistently do promotion in European Union and get better plans to be right-on target or aimed to the right audience,” Mauli said.
That is why PFMA hoped that in the future palm oil production in 2023 would increase and contribute 32 percent to fat and oil production in the globe, CPO absorption should be supported by the increasing demands in the domestic (Indonesia) by escalating biodiesel volume that reached 10,6 million kiloliters in 2022. In 2023 the projection would be escalating for the implementation of B35 biodiesel mandatory program.
It is acknowledged or not palm oil downstream products dominate export volume though the numbers decreased in 2022 because of export ban in Indonesia and domestic market obligation. But by the late of last year, the export increased and in 2023, palm oil exports would be normal again.
“Palm oil price in 2023 would be still in fluctuation but by B35 implementation, baseline price would be about US% 970/metric ton in the midst of this year,” Mauli said. (T2)
