InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – According to roadmap of Making Indonesia 4.0, food and drink industries are the sector that should be prioritized to develop digital transformation. The strategic thing is believed to make them compete in the globe because they would reduce dependence of import materials but could escalate the exports.
General Director of Agro industry, Ministry of Industry, Putu July Ardika said that roadmap of Making Indonesia 4.0 focuses not only in technology application but has the orientation to develop human resources and research and development in industrial sectors.
He thought, for all these years, food and drink industries played significant roles to Indonesia’s economy to grow. The proof is that in the first quarter of 2023, they contributed 38,61 percent to gross domestic product (GDP) in non-oil industries and 6,47 percent in GDP nationally.
“Food and drink industries start to be on the track after they were hit in Covid-19 pandemic. In the first quarter of 2023, they increased 5,33% compared to the same period in 2022 that reached 3,75%,” Putu said at the Kick Off Pendampingan Industri 4.0 Sektor Industri Makanan dan Minuman, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT in Jakarta, Tuesday, (18/7/2023).
He told, digitalization would be positive for industrial sectors to escalate the exports, for instance, European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) would be running in the continent. It requires that the industries in Indonesia, such as, food and drink, would deliver evidences of certification and verification that their products did not derived from deforestation.
“Through digitalization we could implement traceability to our products to penetrade exports. We believe food and drink industries could do it well,” he said. Many milk industries in Indonesia have done digitalization, starting from the livestock, spots of collecting milk, until the industries.
According to Sistem Informasi Industri Nasional (SIINas) of Ministry of Industry, until now 114 food and drink industries completed self-assessment in INDI 4.0 that becomes the reference index to know that such industries are ready to transform to 4.0 industry.
“The numbers of INDI 4.0 were got from industrial self-assessment that got related materials that had something to do with 4.0 industry, such as, the strategies and action of industries in transformation heading to 4.0 industry,” Putu said.
Chairman of Gabungan Pengusaha Makanan dan Minuman Seluruh Indonesia (GAPMMI), Adhi S. Lukman told the development heading to 4.0 industry showed seriousness to encourage and increase competitiveness particularly in food and drink industries. “We appreciate that the activity was not a ceremony only but we have to be serious for having future challenges that need digital technology implementation,” he said.
Adhi continued, the development could be the base to develop competent human resources to implement 4.0 industry. “Hopefully many companies would get advantages including small and medium industries in the digital implementation,” he said. (T2)
