InfoSAWIT, PEKANBARU – Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) and Plantation Agency Riau Province did trainings about Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) for smallholders in the province.
Head of Plantation Agency Riau Province, Zulfadli said, Riau has the widest palm oil plantations in Indonesia. About 30% of the companies got ISPO certificates. That is why it needs support for the planters no only smallholders in District of Siak and Kampar but in other districts in Riau to develop human resources.
“We ask for PFMA that not only smallholders in Siak and Kampar should be involved in but also from others to get ISPO training for the next years,” Zulfadli said, as InfoSAWIT quoted from the official page of Riau Province, Friday (23/6/2023).
ISPO training was joined by 115 smallholders. 87 were from District of Siak and 28 smallholders were from District of Kampar.
This was the way fo the government to implement sustainable and environmental cultivation. The goal is to escalate palm oil competition from Indonesia to other countries and take part about environmental issues.
Chairman of the event, Wahyu Riyadi said, besides theory to the smallholders, they were visiting one group that successfully got ISPO certificate, which is, Gapoktan Pandan Jaya in Village of Empang Pandan, Sub district of Koto Gasib, District of Siak, Riau Province.
“This is about not to get theoretical material about ISPO but also they see the implementation in person,” Wahyu said. (T2)
