InfoSAWIT, MEDAN – The fast development of palm oil plantation in national scale is the same with the progress of organizations that copes planters. On Friday Friday (23/6/2023), new organization was officially declared, it was, Rumah Sawit Indonesia (RSI).
Chairman in duty of RSI, Kacuk Sumarto said that RSI is the organization which the membership is open and should be in legal institution which the form is like corporate in palm oil sector. It should be in synergy to get integrated same ways by conducting resource sharing from many resources and to share profits according to its contribution.
He thought, there are four major issues that RSI concerns about, the first, smallholders replanting program (SRP) is in slow progress though this is the main program of the government to escalate plantation productivity and quality of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) produced by smallholders which eventually would escalate their welfare.
“It is not simple issue. We all know it. I told it to the government that RSI would be ready to be the partner of the government to accelerate and expand SRP, since the management of government’s regulations in SRP until the technical guidelines and implementation guidelines, the security system in the field by cooperating with attorney, police, SRP taskforce, general directorate of plantation, Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial/National Land Agency, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency, and other related parties,” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Friday (23/6/2023).
The second, the smallholders might not get better though their plantations got SRP. It needs improvement in cultivation (to get better productivity and FFB.
The third, sustainability issue on palm oil cultivation by smallholders (and actually by the companies) that impacts to negative perception from other countries and even in this country.
The fourth, the unsynchronized issue among related parties. “That is why the awareness of RSI pioneers that gathering through sustainable corporate would have higher bargaining issue and would be easy to get income portion which gets higher,” he said. (T2)
