PT First Resources Group Gains Support from Riau Community Amid Demonstration Issues

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA — Recent demonstrations by a group referred to as "wild groups" have drawn public attention in Riau. These protests are seen as spreading false information, slander, and unfounded accusations against PT First Resources Group, a leading palm oil company based in Riau. Such allegations have caused unrest in the community, especially considering the significant contributions the company has made to the development of the Riau region.

PT First Resources Group, formerly known as PT Surya Dumai Industri Group, has a long history of promoting the welfare of the Riau community. However, in recent weeks, the company has become the target of demonstrations led by a group claiming to be a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), despite suspicions that they lack official legal status.

Larshen Yunus, the Chairman of the Regional Management Board (DPD) of the National Youth Committee of Indonesia (KNPI) in Riau Province, stated that the community should not be overly concerned about these actions. He noted that such actions are often carried out by groups paid to spread cheap issues that disrupt community peace.

Larshen Yunus praised PT First Resources Group for its significant contributions to advancing Riau Province. He emphasized that the company has provided numerous benefits to the community, including job creation, tax contributions, and environmental sustainability programs.

“Since the era of PT Surya Dumai Industri to becoming PT First Resources Group, the family of Ayahanda Martias Fangiono has shown their dedication to Riau. Even during difficult times, they remained committed to supporting the community,” Larshen stated in a statement to InfoSAWIT on Saturday (December 14, 2024).

He also mentioned that the funds donated by the company for community welfare are felt not only in Riau but also in various regions across Indonesia. Larshen urged all parties to clarify (tabbayun) any information received.

PT First Resources Group is known for prioritizing sustainability and environmental conservation principles. Larshen Yunus asserted that the company always complies with the law and significantly contributes to supporting government programs, including the vision of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

As the Chairman of KNPI Riau, Larshen Yunus also called for unity among the Indonesian people to maintain national stability. He stressed the importance of creating a peaceful atmosphere so that investors feel comfortable doing business in Indonesia, which will ultimately benefit the broader community.

“Let us unite to maintain the peace of this nation. Avoid disgraceful actions that could disrupt harmony as we approach Christmas and New Year. Together, we can build a more prosperous and harmonious life,” Larshen Yunus concluded in his statement.

As of the publication of this news on Saturday (December 14, 2024), PT First Resources Group has not yet provided an official response regarding the ongoing demonstrations. However, the support from the community and youth leaders in Riau indicates that the company remains a key pillar in supporting development and welfare in the region. (T2)
