BKPerdag and RSPO Discussed Palm Oil Trade

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Head of Badan Kebijakan Perdagangan (BKPerdag), Fajarini Puntodewi on Wednesday (18/9/2024) accepted Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Joseph D'Cruz to discuss many strategic issues about palm oil plantations in Indonesia. It was at the office of Ministry of Trade, Jakarta, as the way to face trade issues that got more complex globally.

As in the official statement InfoSAWIT, the discussion focused on everything to deliver certification for the smallholders as being crucial to support the sustainable trade. Besides, the two institutions discussed the impacts of European Union Deforestation Free (EUDR) to palm oil exports from Indonesia to European countries.

RSPO, as the international scale organization and committing to the sustainability of palm oil industries, now has about 200 members in Indonesia. The meeting was attended by some figures, such as, Head of Smallholder Programme RSPO, Guntur Prabowo; Senior Executive of Government Affairs RSPO, Kevin Bako; Secretary of Badan Kebijakan Perdagangan, Ari Satria; and Head of International Trade Policy Center, Iman Kustiaman.

The meeting showed that the Government of Indonesia would be committed to support sustainable palm oil industries to maintain the market access globally for the economic interests nationally. (T2)
