BANDA ACEH –On Saturday (21/3), Government of Aceh offically declared, Rawa Tripa becomes the wetland protected area about 1.455 hectares in the ex area of palm oil plantation company, PT Kalista Alam, in Suak Bahung,Subdistrict of Darul Makmur, District of Nagan Raya.
“The area is part of 11.359 hectares of protected wetland area which is in the Qanun Spatial Plans of Aceh,” Coordinator of Yayasan Ekosistem Leuser, TM Zulfikar, said to The Globe Journal, Sunday (22/3).
He explained, the declaration was done after it had been restored about 500 hectares. The restoration covered planting trees and canal covering plants in 18 spots, which were done by Head of Forestry of Aceh, Husaini Syamaun.
The canal covering plants, Zulfikar saaid, are to restrain the water so that it could not be out of the region. (T3)
